Conclusion?! What?! Wait! How?!?
Yes, conclusion. On day 3, I swung through Noodles, fully confident that I could find something and get change back from my Lincoln. Indeed, I was correct. A small Penne Rosa with Feta cheese rung in at $4.47, and was QUITE delicious. At that point it became clear that I could easily eat lunch for the foreseeable future for under $5 daily. What it also did was clearly point out how much extra shit people buy with their meals that is totally unnecessary. Do you really need those fries/chips? What about that soda? The one thing that consistently kept me under $5 was drinking water. Not only healthier for me, but yielding a savings of $1.29 – $2.10+ per day. That’s pretty significant and adds up quickly.
So what now? Will I give in and go back to the $12 sandwich, soda & cookie? Or will I go for the $3 challenge? Honestly, I don’t know, but am happy to have proven a point to myself that lunch doesn’t HAVE TO cost $10, and that there’s simply no reason to accept the $10 lunch as a “standard”.
Happy eating!!
